My guess is that Inspector of Police (IP) and Senior IP have no reporting relationship. They are both sub unit commanders. The main difference is tenure.
The career path of IP is Probationary IP - IP – SIP – CIP. There is no direct promotion from PIP to SIP or IP to CIP. Only a small % of SIP can make it to CIP.
PC can be promoted to PIP direct, but this is as difficult as the promotion of SIP to CIP.
A sergeant is a sector commander. A station sergeant is a second in charge of sub unit.
